How to Prepare for Your Transition
We are committed to supporting you through this transition. We recommend that you begin migrating any emails, contacts, or files you wish to keep to a personal drive or account (such as a hard drive, flash drive, personal Gmail, Outlook, or iCloud account) as soon as possible.
- Update Your Contact Info: Please ensure the Alumni Association has a non-UMBC email address on file for you so that we can stay in touch regarding future university news and events. Update Your Contact Information.
- Migrate Your Data: We have developed a comprehensive set of Frequently Asked Questions and “How-To” articles to assist you in downloading or migrating your data using tools like Google Takeout to download data, or the Takeout Transfer Tool to move data directly into a personal Google account.
- Update External Accounts: If you have used your UMBC email address to sign up for external services, subscriptions, banking, or job portals, please change those logins to a personal email address immediately so you do not lose access to those platforms.
- Set Up an Auto-Reply: Worried you’ll miss an email? Set up an auto-reply now on your UMBC account to provide your personal email address.
- Access Official Resources: Stay tuned for more updates and access additional resources on the Division of Information Technology’s webpage.
