Getting Help With Data, Analytics, and Reports

New and Improved!

Almost everyone has found themselves in a position where they need to ask a question, but aren’t sure who they should ask or how to ask it.  It can be frustrating (and inefficient) to ask several people for the same thing with the hope that one of them can help.

The Analytics and Data Science team, IRADS, and the REX team have made some simple changes to take the confusion out of asking for help with reports, analytics, or data requests.  We’ve added links to the sites people generally go to find data.  Look for a link that says “REQUEST HELP WITH DATA, REPORTS, OR ANALYTICS.”   Clicking on that link takes you to a page which helps you to refine your request and to make sure the proper people see it.  The requests become part of the familiar campus RT ticketing system.

Here’s what happens when you submit a ticket.  Your request automatically becomes part of a queue reviewed by the Data Warehouse Group at its regular Friday meetings.  At that meeting, your request is triaged, the appropriate member of the group is assigned to be responsible for it, and a due date is assigned.  It will be tracked until it’s closed.

Not sure exactly what to ask?  Look for my favorite link “None of the above fit or I don’t know how to ask for what I need  Our teams will work with you to help you define your question and help you get an answer.

The enhanced analytics, data, and report request system takes the worry about who to ask off your plate, and the RT ticket you generate takes away the worry about your request slipping through the cracks or being lost in an email inbox.

Some Qualtrics Reports to be Deprecated

Classic reports will no longer be available after 10/31

After October 31st, 2020, Qualtrics users will lose access to any reports which were created with Classic Reports, including scheduled emails and public reports. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to rebuild reports on the Advanced Reports platform and to download a PDF copy of existing reports you wish to keep.

To view Classic Reports in a user account, navigate to the Advanced Reports page (Reports tab > Reports section), click on the name of the advanced report and select View Classic Reports from the drop-down. Users can build new reports to replace their Classic versions within a Project > Reports > Reports > Create Report.

If you have a question about the newest version of Reports, please visit the Support Page for Advanced Reports. It’s also always worth checking the XM Community to see if any other users have had the same question about this change. Please submit an RT ticket if you need any custom support regarding this transition.

If you have questions, please contact the Technology Support Center (TSC) located on the first floor of the library next to the RLC or call 410.455.3838.

Full Title: Educause Publishes Video Demo of UMBC "Check My Activity" Tool for Students The final 2010 issue of EDUCAUSE Quarterly includes a brief (5 minute) video demo of UMBC's "Check My Activity" (CMA) tool for students. The CMA demo was part of EQ's special focus on student retention, and includes new information comparing how students use Blackboard by final grade distribution in all 1,461 Spring 2010 Blackboard courses. Specifically, D & F students used it 47 percent less than students earning a C or better, which is similar to results from previous semesters based on much smaller samples. A similar analysis is being conducted on all Blackboard courses for Fall 2010.
