Resolving Google Calendar Add-in Issues (Webex, Teams, etc.)

The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) has identified an issue affecting Google Calendar add-ins (such as Webex, Microsoft Teams, and others). A recent update starting on or around May 26th, 2026 from Google has interfered with these integrations, causing some users to experience connectivity errors or authentication prompts when trying to use them.

How to Fix It: The remedy requires clearing the cached data for the affected add-in within your Google account to re-initialize the connection.

We have published a detailed FAQ document with step-by-step instructions on how to quickly resolve this issue: 👉 Page: How to Re-add Cisco Webex Add-In access for Google Calendar

Need Assistance? If you follow the steps in the FAQ and continue to experience issues, or if you need additional help walking through the process, please contact the Technology Support Center (TSC):

Thank you for your patience as we work to ensure all campus collaboration tools are functioning smoothly.

Sincerely,

Division of Information Technology

Weekend Service Disruption Status

Resolved: Disruption impacting Blackboard, Google, and more

Over this past weekend, April 4-5, 2026, one of UMBC’s services experienced a disruption, resulting in slower loading times. This affected some users' ability to log in to platforms such as Blackboard, Google Services, and myUMBC. This also caused a backlog of emails for some accounts. The issue has been resolved as of April 6, 2026. No action is needed by users at this time.

Need Assistance?

If you have any questions or experience further issues, please contact the TSC at UMBC’s Help Service.

Spring Cleaning Your Cloud Storage!

Resources and tips on freeing up space for the future

Spring is here, and it's time to tidy up your cloud storage so that you'll be able to be more organized and work more efficiently.

Cleaning up Your Email

Your UMBC Gmail account is directly linked to your cloud storage, meaning any emails, files, or attachments you receive can take up even the smallest amount of your cloud storage space.

Consider deleting old emails and threads or any emails with large attachments. Also, consider unsubscribing from any unwanted mailing lists. These will help with both freeing up your storage space as well as declutter your inbox.

Remove/Relocate Unnecessary Files

You may have a lot of old files on your Google Drive that have not been accessed in over a year. Consider sorting your files by date and removing old files you no longer have a use for. If the files are important but not accessed often, consider archiving them on another storage device.

You can also sort your files by size on Google Drive. You can use this to see what is taking up the most space and remove any large files that are no longer needed.

Remember, the UMBC Cloud Storage platforms should be used for UMBC-related files and documents, including but not limited to classwork and research.

Empty your Trash Bin

Once you have gone through and cleared any files and or emails, be sure to empty your trash bin, as files are not fully removed, meaning you won't get back any storage until that bin is emptied.

NEW This Semester: Google Career Skills Specializations
This semester, UMBC learners also have access to Google Career Skills Specializations, short, focused learning experiences designed to build targeted, in-demand competencies.

Unlike full Professional Certificates, these specializations typically take 5–20 hours to complete, making them a great option for learners who want to quickly build skills, explore a new field, or strengthen specific areas of expertise.

These specializations provide valuable exposure to industry-relevant tools and practices; however, they do not stack into larger Google Professional Certificates.

They’re ideal if you want to:
  • Build a specific skill in a short amount of time
  • Explore a career area before committing to a full certificate
  • Add a quick, resume-boosting credential to your profile

0-Credit Practicum Support

Eligible UMBC undergraduate and graduate students may also enroll in a free, 0-credit, pass/fail practicum course (PRAC) to receive additional structure and support while completing their Google Career Certificate.

  • Must enroll before February 24, 2025.
  • Includes regular reminders, optional check-ins, and curated resources.
  • Builds a sense of community with other students working on certificates.
  • Details and requirements will be shared in the course’s Blackboard shell.
This practicum is designed to help you stay on track, maintain momentum, and successfully complete your certificate.
